The Global Fixed Network Innovation Alliance (NIDA) held its first full-staff meeting and council
From June 26 to 28, 2024, the Global Fixed Network Innovation Alliance (NIDA) made its debut during the 2024 Mobile World Congress in Shanghai (2024 MWC Shanghai) to showcase its latest progress in Internet infrastructure technology innovation and industry upgrade.

According to, NIDA is an international, industrial, and non-profit social organization that is voluntarily established by industry institutions, universities, research institutes, and companies around the world and focuses on promoting fixed network technology innovation and industrial upgrading. NIDA is committed to defining the evolution path and network construction standards of global Internet infrastructure to guide the innovation and upgrade of the Internet infrastructure industry. Its first general meeting and first council meeting was successfully held on June 17 in Shenzhen Futian District Shenzhen Hong Kong International Science and Technology Park. At that time, more than 50 representatives of Shenzhen Industry and Information Bureau, Shenzhen Civil Affairs Bureau, Shenzhen Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, Shenzhen Park Development Agency, Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, and NIDA global members were invited to attend the meeting. The meeting is divided into "the first general meeting" and "the first meeting of the first council". The General Assembly deliberated and adopted the constitution of the Alliance and the election method. The members of the Council elected by all members held the first meeting of the First Council, and elected Jing Tao, Chairman of the First Board of Directors, Cao Jiguang, Qiu Yuefeng, Sureswaran Ramadass ( Malaysia). Secretary-General Deng Yiou.
Zhang Hongke, Honorary Chairman of the NIDA Alliance and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stressed that global communications networks still rely on the IP network architecture designed 50 years ago, which has become a bottleneck restricting the development of the AI computing industry. Drawing on the experience of China's high-speed rail development, academician Zhang pointed out that the information industry urgently needs fundamental innovation rather than simply tinkering with the existing architecture. He called for the promotion of original innovation in network systems and systems through NIDA to drive comprehensive innovation in the industry chain and benefit chain and ensure that the industry can continue to be competitive.

Zhang Wenping, Director of Information Infrastructure Division, Shenzhen Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, said Shenzhen will fully support the NIDA Alliance to become an innovative platform for next-generation Internet infrastructure. He expected the NIDA Alliance to help Shenzhen achieve its strategic goal of first demonstration, build it into an international exchange and cooperation center for the next generation Internet, and build a national and world-leading next generation Internet city benchmark.
Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, Deputy Director General Yu Jie, Shenzhen Park Development Department, said: We expect NIDA to play a leading role in international industrial cooperation and make greater contributions to China's position in the global industrial chain. At the same time, we hope that the alliance can further strengthen cooperation with its member units, optimize resource allocation and sharing, and promote the transformation and upgrading of national industries and high-quality development.
Based on the concept of "openness, cooperation, and win-win", NIDA will work with IETF ( Internet Engineering Task Force, IEEE ( Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, European Telecommunications Standards Association, WBBA ( World Broadband Association, Global Cloud Broadband Industry Association, and WAA ( World WLAN Application Alliance. International standards organizations such as the World Wireless LAN Application Development Alliance (WLAN), CCSA ( China Communications Standards Association, and China Communications Standardization Association (China) have established extensive partnerships to jointly promote the definition of the next generation Internet architecture, scenario research, and technological innovation.
