NIDA Secretary-General Deng Yiou attends Asia-Pacific Net5.5G IP GALA Summit

August 15, 2024, by the Global Cloud Broadband Industry Association (WBBA) and the Asia-Pacific IPv6 Expert Committee (Net5.5G IP GALA Asia Pacific Summit hosted by APAC IPv6 Council) at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok, Thailand) Convene. Deng Yiou, Secretary-General of the Global Fixed Network Innovation Alliance (NIDA), was invited to deliver a keynote speech and jointly launched the Net5.5G-oriented evolution initiative with industry leaders attending the meeting.

Under the theme of "Embrace Net5.5G and Stimulate New Growth of Carriers", the summit called on IP practitioners to promote the evolution of next-generation Internet innovation based on Net5.5G. As the global digital economy accelerates, new applications such as immersive XR, Cloud, and AI are growing explosively. These new applications have higher requirements on networks, bringing unprecedented development opportunities for operators and opening a new chapter in the ultra-broadband industry. IP industry thought leaders, carriers, and industry partners were invited to discuss the Net5.5G industry trend insight, carrier practices, industry customer requirements, carrier B2B network construction experience, and IPv6 development.

NIDA Secretary-General Deng Yiou's Keynote Speech
Deng Yiou, Secretary-General of the Global Fixed Network Innovation Alliance (NIDA), delivered the "Net5.5G Launch: Keynote speech on the thinking and practice of the next generation Internet by Chinese operators. Deng Yiou introduced that NIDA is a global industry alliance. It focuses on researching the evolution path of global Internet infrastructure, analyzing application scenarios, and formulating network construction standards to guide the innovation and development of the datacom industry.

NIDA Secretary-General Deng Yiou's Keynote Speech
Deng Yiou shared the insights and experiences of NIDA members on the use of Net5.5G technology to provide toB services. Based on the Net5.5G technology, Chinese carriers have established new business models: IPv6 private network. In this mode, enterprises can choose to build and operate their own IPv6 private networks, or operators can build and operate them for enterprises. By fully utilizing carriers' Net5.5G network infrastructure, IPv6 dedicated networks can effectively reduce network construction costs and shorten network construction time. Carriers can obtain long-term stable revenue by providing subsequent network O&M services, achieving win-win results. Deng Yiou uses the IPv6 private network technology as an example to describe a private education network. The network achieves flexible access, large bandwidth, fast configuration, and easy management. The network is delivered quickly at a low initial cost, and supports local education resource sharing and innovation. In addition, the IPv6 dedicated network built for a large-scale sports event plans to introduce 100 PFLOPS+ computing capabilities and AI large model capabilities through cloud services. This will be the first practice of introducing AI large models in a large-scale competition.

Industry leaders jointly launch initiatives
At the end of the summit, Deng Yiou, on behalf of NIDA, launched an initiative with industry leaders such as Bangladesh Summit Commuications CTO K.M.Tariquzzaman, Indonesia XL Axiata Vice Chairman Benny Dwi Setyawan , WBBA Martin Creaner, Asia Pacific IPv6 Council Chairman Sureswaran Ramadass, China Mobile Hong Kong Chief Architect Knight Wei, and Huawei Router Product Line President Zuo Meng. Calls on the Asia-Pacific industry to promote the evolution of Net5.5G to promote industry prosperity and development.
After the meeting, NIDA also held in-depth exchanges with the Asia-Pacific IPv6 Expert Committee (APAC IPv6 Council )) and WBBA. In the future, the three parties will cooperate on next-generation Internet innovation to jointly promote the construction and innovation of next-generation Internet infrastructure. In addition, NIDA will strengthen cooperation with the Asia-Pacific IPv6 Expert Committee in the Asia-Pacific region, accelerate the application and implementation of Net5.5G in the Asia-Pacific region, and facilitate the innovation and development of local enterprises.
