Launch Ceremony of the BRICS Next Generation Network Pioneer Cities Development Initiative
On April 28, 2025, the 6th BRICS Forum on Future Network Innovation was grandly opened in Shenzhen. Themed "Cooperation on Network Innovation, for Shared Benefits in a Digitally Connected Age", the forum brought together government representatives, academic institutions, and industry leaders from 24 countries to explore path for next generation network innovation and development among BRICS nations.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, the "Ceremony of the BRICS Next Generation Network Pioneer Cities Development Initiative" was officially launched. This initiative focuses on promoting the construction of next generation network infrastructure across BRICS nations, leveraging the New Generation network to accelerate innovation implementation and drive industry upgrading.

In November 2024, during the World Internet Conference, NIDA collaborated with representatives from 8 industry organizations, including the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), ITU-T (Telecommunication Standardization Sector of ITU), WBBA (Global Cloud Network Broadband Industry Association), IPv6 Forum, CCSA (China Communications Standards Association), China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), jointly launch the "Next Generation network Global Pioneer Initiative". The initiative proposed industrial goals to cultivate "100 Thought Pioneers, 100 City Pioneers, and 100 Commercial Pioneers" globally.
The "BRICS Next Generation Network Pioneer Cities Development Initiative" marks a critical milestone in the "Next Generation Network Global Pioneer Initiative", signifying the BRICS nations’consensus on the future direction of Next Generation Network industry. It has become a shared commitment for BRICS countries to advance network infrastructure upgrades and evolution. This event signifies the transition of the next generation network standard roadmap from domestic implementation to international deployment, transforming conceptual frameworks into actionable practices. It underscores the BRICS nations’ strong resolve to collaborate in future network innovation and embodies the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness, cooperation, and mutual benefit.
